Today the pond finally froze over. So we headed down and played tag on it. It was kind of sketch at some parts. like in the middle it was really thin. so we mostly played on the south side where it was thickest.

Well, I was going to go ten and a half miles but at about halfway when I turned around and started running North again, the wind was just blasting me and after about 2 miles of that I was just too cold too run, so I called my mom who came and picked me up.

First we ran down to the lake to play tag. We were almost done with the first game when Little Warner fell through the ice to his thigh. Then, seeing an oppurtunity to escape Mahonri tried jumping over the river to escape when he fell in. They were too cold to be outside anymore so we went inside. We did 15 laps inside, which translates into about 5 miles.

I didn't know what to expect coming into this race. I was hoping for anything around 5:10 or under. I started out warming up on the inside of the ice oval for about a mile and three quarters. Then we went over and got or heat assignments. I could have been in a faster heat now that I look at it, but I didn't think I was in good enough shape to run sub 5. So I was in heat six. Because of that I had to sit around for 30 minutes before the race.

I did a couple sprints and lined up. The gun went off and I was in terrible position, about third to last until we came around that first corner. On the straightaway I moved up into about third place and passed the timer in 48 seconds, which was about what I wanted to see. On the second lap I moved up into second and we passed through in 2:06. During the third lap I moved into first on the back straightaway. We passed through at 3:39. Once I saw this I realized I might be able to break five and I took off. I kept the lead the rest of the way and finished in 4:59, winning by three seconds. New PR!!!!!!

Afterwards I did a half mile cooldown until they kicked me off the inside of the ice oval.

Today we had a two mile time trial. It started out with everybody in a big pack and for some reason we were going really slow. We were talking casually the first lap or two. We went through one mile in 5:55. That is dang slow. so the second one I started to pick it up a little bit. Then me and Little Warner pulled away from the group. We finished with a pretty fast 800. I finished in 11:21, and Little Warner was a couple of seconds faster. I was really surprised when I looked back and saw that I was beating Adam and Mahonri by quite a bit. I hope to go a lot faster this weekend at Timpanogas.

I woke up, ate breakfast, and headed to the bus at 7:30. There were a lot of the distance guys missing. We got to Timpview high school at about 8:15 and waited around, looking at the heat sheets and stuff while we waited for the meet to get started. It was supposed to start at 9:00, but they took over an hour to fix it, so we got started at about 10:15.

First was the mile. We warmed up for a couple of laps and did a couple of strides before heading to the line. The gun went off and I made sure that I got off really fast so I wouldn't have to deal with moving around people right off the bat. I was in fourth at 200 where the lady called out 31,32. That was way too fast so I slowed it down a little and came through 400m in 70 seconds. At that point there was a couple people that passed me, so I just stayed on Mahonri's tail for the next two laps. On the last lap we started moving up and I tried to stay with Mahonri but I just couldn't. I still passed like three people though. My official time was 4:57.70. PR!!! Jon got second, Mahonri got third, I got sixth, and Tommy got seventh. So we scored a good chunk of points in that event.

The two mile was not fun. Tommy, and Cole Gray had to leave before it so I was only person from Lone Peak in the race. I warmed up a little and headed to the line. The gun went off and the race immediately shaped into what it would be the whole time. three guys took off ahead while I stayed a little behind with some kid from Lehi. The kid from Lehi fell off hard after a lap and I was in no mans land for about two more laps until I started lapping people. I had no clue what pace I was going the whole time, because nobody was calling splits and there was no one around me. I just kept on churning out laps until on my seventh I saw the guy in third had faded off the front two. I kept picking up my speed until with about 200m to go I was only about 5 meters behind him, but then he started his kick while I had used up most of mine trying to catch him. I finished in fourth. Afterward Revelli told me that my time was 10:57. Another PR!!! And 5 points to add.

The final score of the meet was Lone Peak 181, then second was Green River in 92. I had seven of those points!

Today we had a dual meet against Lehi. It started out with the mile as the first event so they could be running hurdles at the same time. The gun went off and I jumped out fast so I wouldn't have to fight through a billion Lehi kids( There is a ton of them.). The first went by pretty fast and I was right behind the lead group. The order didn't change much through the second as we went through in 2:23 at 800m. I dropped off pretty hard on the third lap so I was a good five seconds behind the lead pack and two Lehi kids passed me. On the home straight Mike caught up with me and he ended up beating me by a second. I did not think we were going as fast as we were, but Im always happy with a PR.

The two mile was rough. We started out as a pack of four and no Lehi kid ever passed us. We went through the first mile in 5:28, which was perfect. The second mile though I just didn't have the legs and ended up finishing in third with an 11:12. Not very good.

Ran a leg of the 4x4 after too but I was so tired I split like a 70 or something.

So we got to the race and did some warm up on the track and then went over to see what heat we were in. We still had a while because they were running all six girls heats first. So we laid down on the grass with the AF guys for a little than headed out for a kind of warm up. We got back and got our numbers then waited in the bullpen area for a while. They finally let us do our strides then lined us up. I was number 8 so I had a pretty good position. The gun went off and I hopped to the back of the pack because I had the slowest time out of the whole race. I shouldn't have even been in that heat but I was running in Marc's place so it said I had a 4:45 PR. I was in dead last coming through the first lap in like close to 70 flat. The second lap I moved passed some guys and came through at like 2:23 I think. Our third lap slowed quite a bit but I passed one more guy. On the last lap I kicked it in and passed the guy from Lehi who had beaten me at every other race. 4:49 PR!!!!!!!

Afterwards did a cool down and then stayed around and watched for 12 and a half hours!

We were listening to music in the tent when Anthony came over and said they were about to start the two mile. We ran over and got there right before they were about to shoot the gun. They let us change quick then we went. We started off talking to the kid in front who was actually trying so we let him go. the rest of the race was spent slowing down and talking to the girls or randomly breaking out into song. Then the kid from PG was about to lap us on his last lap so we paced him through to a PR. On our last straightaway John, Little Warner, and I did somersaults and crossed the line at the same time. We talked to the kid from PG, his name his Tanner.

The 3200 was the first event so we started warming pretty soon after we got there. Me and Mike had the top times in our heat so we were pretty pumped.

The gun went off and I went out into second place behind a kid from Alta. It was him me and Mike in that order for the whole first mile. He paced us through at 5:15, which was perfect. Then Mike took the lead and I followed him for two more laps where we slowed down quite a bit. with 800m left I jumped ahead of Mike so I could try to get ahead of him before he could beat me with his kick. I held him off until the very last lap where he passed me on the final straight and beat me by .7 seconds. In our heat it went him, me, then Cole Gray.

Cooled down a little then went and took a nap.

We had no time to warm up because we got distracted watching all the best scenes from Hot Rod.

Me and John had the two worst seeds so we had the worst position. The gun went off and everybody went out really fast. I came through 400m in 69 seconds. The second lap I didn't pass anyone but I came through at 2:23. I don't know what happened on the third lap but I came through at 3:40. I got passed by Tanner from PG. On the last lap I passed Little Warner! But then he passed me again on the last straight. I did pass a kid from Jordan though.

My final time was 4:54. Nobody had a good race. Me, Little Warner, and Tanner were talking after and we don't know what happened the last 800m. Oh well.

Got to the race at 2:30 and went inside and talked to Jerem and Cole Gray for a while before I headed out. I warmed up with all the other milers and did some strides.

Gun went off and I faded into the middle of the pack pretty quick. I just kind of followed behind Little Warner for the whole first lap. we came through at 70 seconds for 400. Pretty good. The next lap we came through at 2:23, which is what I've come through 800 in at every race so far this year. The third lap Tanner moved up next to me and I ran with him through 1200 where our split was 3:37. He passed me and I just tried to hang on until the end but he ended beating me by less than a second.

Afterward I cooled down with Walton, who showed up to watch and Mahonri.

Got up at 8:00 and ate 10 frosted mini wheats, got dressed, and got a ride over to Lone Peak because it was raining. I got there and headed into the little shed thing to protect myself from the rain. The AF guys were in there sleeping. I warmed up with Mike and Tommy. Then headed over to the start. I changed into my spikes and did some strides on the pole vault runway so my spikes wouldn't get soaked. Dustin was there today, which was cool.

It was lightly sprinkling when we lined up. i was the fifth seed in my heat and Mike was fourth. The gun went off and the front pack immediately separated from everyone else. It was a kid from Mt. View, a kid from AF, then Mike, a kid from Orem, and me. Mt. View and Af had about 10 meters on us but as we came around the back stretch Dustin said we were on pace to run a 66 so we needed to slow down. we did and reeled the two kids in at about 600. we came through 400 at 72. It was the five of us way ahead at that point and we came though 800 at 2:34. It stayed the same until at the mile we came through at 5:18 and the Orem kid dropped off. With 800 to go we were all trying to pass the Mountain View  kid but he wouldn't let us pass. On the final lap I got ahead of AF, then on the home stretch kicked past Mt. View but AF got me back by half a step. Mike won two seconds ahead of me.

3rd place and a 13 second PR!!!! Afterward cooled down.

I got to practice today and did a couple of miles before with Cole, Mike, and Mahonri. Our workout was 400, 800, 1200, 800, 400. It wouldn't have been to bad but on the home stretch it was so windy we could barely move. So we ended up running 80's for every lap until the last one where I ran like a 68. Afterwards me and Cole Gray ran the Hidden Oaks loop.

We came through at 70. The next lap I passed Jon who gave up because he had hurdles and pole vault later. 8000 split was 2:27. couldn't quite here the 1200 split but finished a couple of seconds behind Tommy who finished in 4:51. I missed the bus to the meet because I took a nap and overslept, so I got a ride with Tommy. We got to the meet and started warming up, I was supposed to be the fastest in the second heat, but when I went to check in they told me that I was in the fast heat.

The race started and I immediately faded into last place because they were hauling. I came through the 400 mark at 65. That was way too fast. I just hung on to the back of a kid from Hunter and we both fell off of the main group. I stayed behind him all the way through to until the last 100m where I surged past him and beat him by half a second. Afterwards I found out he was a freshman too.

The two mile was cool because it was under the lights. It went out and I stayed with the second pack, which was a bad idea because at 1200 I realized we were going way to slow and I tried to get up to the next group but they were too far ahead. I ended up passing a couple more people and finishing in about 10:35. It was super dumb though because in the mile they had me at 4:38 and int he two mile they had me at 11:00.

Got to leave school today at 11:00 which was pretty sick. got there about 12:30 and sat around playing cards and stuff for two hours and then we started warming up it came a lot faster than I thought it would. We lined up and I was the sixth seed. The gun went off and I immediately got boxed in at like 12th place. at 200m I finally got out and caught up to the leaders which was two AF kids and Mike. One AF kid just took off and we never saw him again. Then I just hung behind Mike for a while. Then with 800m to go I passed Mike and the AF kid I was second coming in at 200m when another AF kid came tearing by me. I tried to follow but couldn't. MIke got me with 50m to go and we both sprinted to the finish. I thought that I got him at the very end but we will never know who actually won, because he just gave his sticker first. final results said we came in at 10:28.84 and .86. Afterward watched Tommy PR and get 10:10. Cooled down and waited for Pole Vault to get over which took forever.

Today was the last race of track season for me so I really wanted to go out out on a good note. At Herriman they screwed up my time and said I ran a 4:38 which is ten seconds fast. So I was in the fast heat. I was the slowest one by seed time by 8 seconds with my real time. I warmed up a little talked to Maddie and Emily from AF, and watched Tommy beat Jon with a kick! Too funny to see Jon's face when Tommy beat him.

I lined up in third to last between Zac Jacklin, and Daniel Bentley from AF. They told us the whole schpeel then fired the gun and we were off. I was in the back at the beginning, but was still was leading on a kid from Bingham and Caleb from AF. The first lap I followed behind Zac and Daniel and came through at 66. I couldn't hold on to them much longer after that and faded off of them a little, but still came through 800 at 2:17. The third lap I just followed behind Caleb on the straightaways because he was running in the second lane lane the whole time. On the back stretch the kid from Bingham surged ahead and I just didn't have the legs to go with him. Our 1200m split was 3:33. At that point I surged past Caleb and just went all out for the next 300m and passed the line in 4:42. I was too pumped for a six second PR. Afterwards I did a little cool down.

Ran Hog's Hollow today with David because his mission farewell is tomorrow. There was seven of us that met at Legacy at seven. I got to say it got me too pumped for summer Cross Country. I forgot how rough it was going up but it was too fun at the same time. On the way down when we were flying down the trail I almost biffed a couple times but it never actually happened. We met Adam at sliding rock because I guess he had forgotten to set his alarm. The water was so cold and I almost slipped climbing up the rock way but I got up fine eventually. I had never done it before so it looked to sketch when you see them flying down this waterfall bouncing off the rocks and everything. I was second to last and I went it surprisingly didn't hurt at all. The bad part was when you hit the bottom and are completely submerged in the water. I came up and it was so cold. I got my shoes on and we ran back down to Legacy. I got to say, I think this is my favorite run we do.

It was super cool because once we hit the trees at the top we ran straight into a cloud. It was kind of trippy because you turn around and look down the mountain, and can't see anything below but fog. We got to the top made three wishes at the tree of knowledge and headed back down. Me and Ashton found out last night that there was a race in Blanding, and since we couldn't do the freedom run we thought this would be cool instead. We got there and warmed up for about half a mile before we headed to the start line. The race started and some girl from Lehi jumped out to the front but faded after about 50 meters. The first half of the race was all uphill so I was planning on just sitting behind the leaders until we turned down the other way and try to gap them on the downhill. There was one kid out front that I was following from Bear River. He said he ran a 15:41 last season but I guess something wasn't right because I was keeping up no problem. Once we turned and started the downhill I guess he had the same idea and he started picking up the pace. We both were trying to pull away but everytime I would try he would match and vice versa. Finally  we could see the final turn and going into it about 200 meters left he had me by 10 meters and was surging hard. I thought he had me until I saw something was wrong with him. right when we turned into the home straight he stopped and puked all over the road. I saw this as my oppurtunity and passed him and with 100 to go I looked behind me and he was still puking, so I just jogged it in. I was surprised with how I did considering Ive been camping for three days and eating a bunch of crap, and basically not preparing right at all. The time cold have been a lot faster, but a win is a win. Afterward I won 60 dollars to the local grocery store so I went and bought like a million boxes of wheat thins.

Personally, I like the sun-dried tomato and basil wheat thins the best. But my mom bought this kind made out of rice. They're gross. Good job on the win, especially without prepping for it at all.

Team didn't meet to run this morning so i told myself i was going to run by myself but I just kept putting it off until it was 11:00 at night.  Luckily my dad said he would bike with me so my mom would let me go. We just ran down to the cousins and turned east on the canal until we hit the part where you go under the road is where we turned around. first three miles were at a steady 7:00 pace then without meaning to the fourth mile picked up to 6:40, and the last mile was 6:11. It felt great because it had just rained and was nice and cool and wet.

Today we couldn't really decide where we wanted to run so we ended up running through random peoples backyards for a while until we ended up behind Westfield and we played fish out of water for a little on the playground. After that we ran up the Hogs Hollow trail until the part where you can turn onto the road. Pretty fun run I guess.

This was probably one of the funnest runs I've ever done. We ran up to sliding rock and went down it a couple times because it felt so good. It wasn't too cold and it was super deep at the bottom. Afterwards we ran up to the bike jump and found a bike tire and were trying to roll it down off the jump into the lake. After a little we decided to go up a small mountain we saw. It took us about an hour but was a really cool view at the top. We went down, and at the bottom we decided to go down sliding rock again, and do flips and stuff off the side.

Today we had a workout. We had 2 5 min thresholds with 5 min inbetween. We warmed up about two miles, then started. The first one was slightly downhill so we did over a mile in the five minutes. The second one was kind of hilly, so we did just under a mile. Afterwards we cooled down back to the park through Lambert.

Today we did a backwards mountain run after we went and woke Clayson up and made him run with us. Afterwards we all went to Mike's pool.

Later I did a 5 mile run on my own. I left at like five and it was pretty hot. The first three miles I was feeling great. They averaged out at about 6:30 pace. After about 3.5 all of the sudden I had to take a dump. I just jogged it in at like 8:00 minute pace after that.

Today I got back from Washington. We had 6x1000m repeats. Coach had to be somewhere so we had to do them ourselves. They were supposed to be at 5k pace, but we ended up doing them faster. My slowest one was about 3:10, and my fastest one was 3:01. Afterwards we ran back to the park. There was an old breakfast burrito up in the rafters that had been there for about two and a half weeks that Little Warner said he would eat for ten bucks. It was nasty, he only got down three bites before puking his guts out. I still haven't gotten my appetite back for breakfast yet.

Later I went for a run on my own. I just kept it at an easy 6:55 pace for about 5 miles. My knee has been hurting lately and I am getting kind of worried.

I didn't run yesterday because my knee was still hurting and I wanted to play it safe. Today we had 6x800m hill repeats. I think the hill might actually be about 50 meters short though. I did them all in about 2:40 to 2:50 and I was usually about third behind little Warner and Clayson. On the last one Clayson somehow ran 2:18. The best part was that my knee felt great the whole time!

Today Little Warner, Mahonri, Mike and I were doing the black trail loop when we saw that the riverbed was dry! We did an over under run down the riverbed which is where every bridge or tunnel we see we have to go over, and then on the next one we go under and so on and so forth. After we got through the riverbed and like 30 over unders we got into this concrete drainage ditch thing on the side of Highland highway which led to a tunnel.we went through the tunnel and out into one of those flood gate things, with the grating over the top and the gate they can open or close depending on the water level. There was a fifteen foot drop down to the bottom so we jumped on to the ladder and then through the gate thing which was partially open. through there we swung on the grating over to the other side and down a tube that led us out into some really thick and thorny trees that we had to bushwack through. Eventually we found the tunnel under the road, climbed both fences and got out to the other side. On our way back we stopped at Num Num's for some water and headed home. Probably the funnest run i've ever done.

Later went on a short run with Ashton and Jordan.

At the half mile mark we were all together still and ot going all that fast until Dustin and Clayson took off. After that we all kind of picked it up. It was Jon, Mike, and me all the way down Westfield road when all of the sudden Mike just took off. The last mile I just kind of died and let Jon and Mahonri pass me. in the end i took fifth on the team but Little Warner wasn't there so I will probably be sixth at grass relays which was the goal anyway. PM-We met at spinney park and warmed up for about a mile and a half. Our workout was 6x1000m repeats. They were at about 5k pace so mine ranged from 3:15-3:23. I think the loop was about 50 meters long though. Clayson would always hit around 3:00, with Little Warner at about 3:10, and Jon, Mahonri, and me would all come in a few seconds behind that. Afterwards we cooled down and I went over to Cole Gray's to play some zombies with him and Walton for a little. Coach Ryan got mad at me because I went without food from about 2:00 until 11:00, so now he wants me eating like 4000 calories a day and at certain times.

Today was GRASS RELAYS! Funnest meet of the year by far. We got to AF at about 7:20 and sat around for a while before we warmed up. We did some strides and got in position. We were the last ones there so we got the worst spot. The gun went off and I went out hard so I wouldnt get caught in the bottleneck. I was about tenth coming up the little hill and by the time we went around the corner and over the first hay bale I was in the lead. coming around the goalpost I surged and extended  my lead so that by the time I was running around the baseball field I had a pretty sizeable lead. I continued to lead until we were coming down the goalpost on the second lap, at which point a kid from Desert Hills came up on my shoulder. I stayed in front of him until with six hundred to go him and two AF guys passed me. The AF huys took off but I kind of stayed with Desert Hills guy until once we were out of the gauntlet he outkicked me and beat me solidly. I was hoping to win but my time was better than I expected. If I had run this time in the race last race year I would have won by 10 seconds but everyone just gets faster every year somehow. Afterwards I cooled down and watched the rest of the races. In the varsity race we took second!!!!! We beat Riverton and Bingham pretty soundly and ran the fifth fastest team time ever. Clayson ran a 10:04 which was expected but somehow Little Warner ran 10:15. That puts him in the top 20 ever im pretty sure. I knew he was going to be fast this year but I would never have guessed that fast in a million years.

Today was Pre-Region. It was at Westlake this time on the exact course that they used at the invitational last year. Going in I was hoping for 16:20's. We warmed up then headed over to the start. It took forever for them to get it going, along with AF starting up everyone singing the national anthem which was another couple minutes. The gun finally went off and I made sure to get out pretty good. I was in about tenth coming around the first turn. By the time we were running along the fence I was in eighth and the only people ahead of me were Austin Brower, Rory, and five guys on my team. It stayed this way until about 1200m in a couple people passed me. My first mile we came through at like 5:08- 5:09. That is much too fast. I started to lay off the gas a little but then Ryan and Dustin were yelling at me to get up next to Mike so I did and it just about killed me. My two mile split was 10:37. On the last mile I just flat out died. I figure I must have run like 5:53 on it or something horrible like that. With 800m to go Walton passed me and I just couldn't go with him. He ended up running 15 seconds faster then me. I finished at what felt like long run pace. New PR but I know thatI could run a lot faster with good pacing. I ended up seventh on our team, but we took second! AF won pretty soundly but we beat Westlake, and beat Riverton pretty soundly. I got in before Rivertons fourth man which was good.

We had the girls go pick our spot for us and  of course they chose lane 1, which was the worst spot. The gun went off and I told myself I wasn't going to go out too fast, which was a mistake. I ended up stuck in the middle of a huge pack going up the hill. I was trying to move up on people and ended up using my hands more then my feet for the first three quarters of a mile. I came to a complete stop a couple of times at the baseball field. Once down onto the track I was able to really move and probably passed 20+ people. Going along the hedge on the back of the grass once you get off the track I finally caught up to Walton. For the next mile we worked together and passed a bunch of people. Once we went through the track for the second time we caught a pack of guys from Westlake. The whole last mile we went back and forth. Once we hit the track I realized Mike was only five seconds ahead of me and I tried to catch him. Once we hit two hundred meters to go him and the Westlake kids took off. I was disappointed with my time until I heard it was quite a bit longer. We got second as a team to Davis, and we would have beaten them if Mike hadn't of been sick. Clayson won, and Little Warner was top ten.

Today the Principal came and told us that the school is tearing down our wall. It was pretty much the most devastating news I could have heard. Now we will no longer have somewhere to play wallball on before practice. It was hard to run after hearing that but we went out for about seven.

Later I ran the canyon road loop.

Today was the Wasatch invitational at Soldier Hollow. It was a pretty long drive up there so I got a pretty solid nap on the way up. We got there and started warming up once the junior senior JV boys started. We lined up and they only gave everyone spots two people wide. We got out and I just settled into the race with Walton and Cole Gray. We did pretty much all of our moving in the first mile. It was pretty rough because there was absolutely no flat it seemed. It was either up or down. We came through the first mile in 6:05, then headed up the switchbacks. On the second one I gapped Walton by a little and surged up to two kids from Salem Hills. I stayed with them all the way to the last half mile where it's all downhill, and they pulled away. I ran by myself to the finish and got seventeenth. I was disappointed I was so close to meddling but whatever. Our team got second and only lost to AF 28-42. And that was without our third runner Mike. By the time state comes I think we could be able to give them a run for their money.

Today we had 7x800m repeats on the stupid field by the seminary building. It was originally six, but in typical Ryan fashion as soon as we thought we finished he threw in another that had to be the fastest yet. They felt so much better then they have in the past. Times were 2:39, 2:39, 2:36, 2:35, 2:38, 2:38, 2:33. They could have been faster but there was a nasty wind coming right at us on the longest part of the interval coming around the trees with 300m to go. Iwas anywhere from 3-6 on the team on any given interval. Marc kept getting on the inside and pushing me out on the turns so I couldn't cut corners. It was really annoying.

Today was the Nebo invite. We left at 1:30 from the school but I didn't race until 5:30. It was pretty cold so we spent a lot of the time inside the high school. It was pretty fun, we had competitions to see who could slide the farthest on our backs, and we were messing with this one really cocky kid from Bingham. We watched Walton get third in the JV race then started warming up. It had been raining for the past couple days so the ground was soggy, and since we were the last race of the day the course was absolutely wrecked. The gun went off and i tried to get out fast but since I was in the back row it was very difficult. The whole first mile I was stuck and just trying to get free, but once i got out of this huge pack of kids though I was able to start moving. The whole second mile I just kind of stayed in this pack and passed a few people. Once we were coming around the track for the last lap Tanner passed me and I hung on for a while before droppng off with about 800m to go. Coming around the baseball fields I lost a bunch of time by 1) some kid pushed me and I fell over when we weree going  through the deep mud 2) my shoe came untied and nearly came off like three times. my headband also came off so I flicked it over by the scoreboard. At the very end I was sprinting to try to hold off someone who I couldn't tell who it was until I finished and it was Justin on PG. He said he got a fastrunningblog which is cool. We came in third to AF and Bingham. I was so mad because I really thought that we had Bingham we had all seven guys in twenty spots ahead of their  fifth guy. Oh well, we'll get them at state.

Long Run today. I'm the only varsity runner who didn't have a day date for homecoming so I had to run by myself. Usually I don't listen to music when I run but since it was a long run, and I was alone I thought why not. I ran up into the foothills and followed that dirt trail all the way to Grove Creek I think. It''s the canyon right next to the G on the mountain. On the way back I went really hard so I could make it back before the end of the playlist. I made it to my back door with 10 seconds left on the last Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros song.

Today the only coach that was there was the annoying plyo lady. I don't think that she likes me very much because me and Walton just race during the drills, and if that means cutting the drill short halfway to sprint to the finish to win so be it. After those we went out for a run. We ran down to the end of the trail following the river by AF then started our workout. It was seven minutes hard, two minutes rest, and another seven minutes. On the first one I felt way good and the only people ahead of me were Clayson and Little Warner. The second one sucked because it was all gradual uphill and afterward I felt like I was going to die. We ran to AF to get a drink and use the bathrooms but I was so wrecked I just lied down in the middle of the hall and took a 10 minute nap.

Today was by far the best race of my life. We got ther at about three and it was freezing so Walton, Marc, and I went down into the basement of the school to wait for the two hours it was before our race. It was pretty fun, We found some huge speakers the football locker room so we were blasting some dodos. Walton lit some incencse and I think one of the AF guys thought he was smoking weed. When the girls varsity race started we went and warmed up then headed to the line. It was pretty cold, but not nearly as cold as when we got there and there was a decent wind coming at you down the home straight.

The race went off and I went out and through the first 800m worked into a good position right with Mike, Marc, & Jon. We just kept a good pace through the first mile where we came through at 5:18. On the loop around the big field by the other school that group kind of got away from me and I just tried to not let anyone pass me. I came through the second mile in 10:38 and moved up to pass Jon and get in right with these to Davis kids I just tried to hang on to them the whole last mile and eventually we caught Marc. Nut with 200m to go all three of them beat me. i came across in 15:45 though which is almost a 30 second PR! We put 6 runners in before Binghams fifth but they ended up beating us by 4 points. We did get Davis though!

The race went off and nobody was running very fast so when I went through the mile at 5:10 I was only 5 seconds behind the leaders. The second mile I just died. Coming around the tennis courts my stomach just clenched up and I just tucked in behind Jon. The two mile split was 10:36, which means the second mile was a 5:26 which is no good. The last mile I passed Jon and just ran with Mahonri all the way to the finish. Time and place weren't what I was hoping for but whatever, we qualified for state. We lost to Westlake, but Clayson was taking it pretty easy and we have the advantage in a bigger race. Now I just have to prepare myself for state.

Today was state. They excused us from school all day so I got to sleep in until 8:00! At 8:30 we went over to Mikes house for breakfast. I had half of a waffle and a banana along with a small bowl of mini wheats before I went over. The Bus came at 11:30 and there was like a huge sendoff from the student council with balloons and paint and stuff. We got to the course and lied down until the 4A race, when we started warming up. We ran around and watched Conner Mantz rage on everybody before we got our spikes and went to the line. We did some strides then lined up, but they were intent on starting us at 3:30 so we just sat there for a while before they finally let us go.

I got out decently, and was probably midpack up the road and on the top. I did a lot of moving and just kind of followed these three Davis kids as we weaved our way forward. Going down the steep hill on the West side I passed the Davis kids and went up the hill. It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be and I passed a couple people. At this point in the race I caught up to Mike, and we worked together moving down to the lake and got right up behind Jon. On the gradual hill on the far side we made a move and passed a bunch of people going down to the road. The only person that passed us the last half of the race was Skittles from AF, but they always just hammer the last mile. I was feeling really good until we got halfway around the lake for the second time, and I had to start really digging deep. Once we got onto the track I went past Jon and Mike, and I was trying to catch one more Davis kid but I couldn't quite get him. Jon passed me with about 20m left and got the Davis kid too. I came across in 16:19 and was so happy that I got my goal of 16:20.

We were waiting in the finishing area for the longest time waiting to see what we got while people were coming in. After Bingham's fifth came across it was official that WE HAD GOTTEN SECOND!!!! I can't describe how happy we all were, and I have never seen a more beautiful sight then our trophy being awarded to us. Final scores ended up being AF-44, Lone Peak-82, Davis-107, and Bingham-115. Afterwards we went to Pizza Pie cafe, and they gave us cookie monster on the house which was the most delicious thing I have ever tasted.

Today we had a workout on the track. 600, 400, 600, 400, 600, 400, 600, 400. I felt really good and all of my 400's were at 68 or under, with a 64 on the last one. I hate 600's because we do them at the exact same pace as the 400's so I would come through at 68, then have to just hang on for the lasat 200. I don't what our times were on those because Tawny was only timing at the 400 mark, but they were probably around 1:45.

10x400 with 1 min rest. Times ranged inbetween 67-69 on all of them except for one 70.Jon anad Mahonri were no more than a second or two behind me on all of them, and Jon ran a 60 on the last one. I was getting kind of worried about our shot at nationals with all of our injuries, but now I think we are almost back at full strength.

Today we woke up and went downstairs for breakfast, and decided to go down to the course later than everybody else in Ryan's car.We got there at 10 and started warming up. We checked out the course and it was so wrecked. The entire course was covered in a couple of inches of mud, and the little ditch that we had to run through 4 times was filled with 6 inches of water. We got back to our spot and somebody had stolen Jon's spikes so he had to race in his trainers. We got to the line and had to wait for 15 minutes as they announced everybody. When the gun went off everybody went out pretty fast and it was a nightmare trying to move up in the pack. After about 200 meters the mud started and there was no longer a single dry spot on the course. I was with a couple AF and Orem kids for a while during the first mile, and when we came through it was so crowded that I couldn't see what the clock said. On the second mile I just ran with a couple Ogden kids and Caleb from AF. Two mile split was 10:32 and my legs were so dead from all the mud that I felt like I was walking. Throughout the course there was four spots where we had to run down into these little ditches that were filled with about 6 inches of water, and on the last one I almost fell over going through it. In the final 200 meters I was in the middle of a giant pack that I couldn't really get out of so I just kind of finished with all of them. My time was really slow, but that was because of the mud which is a bummer because I really wanted to go sub 16 for a full 5k, but whatever. Our team got 15th because we had 4 guys injured. I was so mad that Davis qualified for nationals after we destroyed them at state, but it was mostly out of our control. Now I just want to go and compete for the win in the Frosh/Soph all star race at Footlocker.

Went to Red Mountain High School to use their track for a workout and it just so happened that their cross country team was doing exactly half the amount of intervals I was doing with double the rest. We started together and then they did every other one with me. I did 8x400 at 65, 67, 66, 68, 63, 69, 69, 69. Afterwards I cooled down and went to the best Mexican restraint ever.

Woke up at 5:30 and we drove out to Mesa at 6:30 only to find out that my race was at 9:00. I just slept in the back of the car for two hours then started warming up about twenty minutes before the 10k started. I did some strides then lined up in the front by a kid that was wearing a Corona Del Sol jersey, and another guy who said that he was from Utah. It was a pretty big race and had probably about 3000 people running it. The gun went off and After about 100 meters I was in about 6th place. There was a group of about 5 guys that separated from everybody and about 800 meters in a pack of 5 guys came up with me. We just ran together through the next couple of mile markers which were supposed to have clocks at them but didn't, so I had no clue how fast we were going except for that we were hauling. At the 5k marker we had dropped one of the guys and had passed one of the guys who had gone out with the lead pack, and we came through in the 16:30's somewhere. The next 2 miles I kept trying to drop this one kid but he would always come back. We hit the 5 mile marker and started to really pick up the pace on a slight downhill. The last 400 meters were in a park and once we got there it was down to three of us in a battle for fifth. We came around the final turn and on the last little hill before the final 100 meters I just died and the two other guys pulled ahead and I just couldn't match it. In the end I was seventh in 33:46. I came in hoping for somewhere around 35-36 minutes so I was very happy when I saw the time was under 34. Afterwards I cooled down and waited around for the awards ceremony, then headed back to get ready for Thanksgiving!

We had to get up a lot earlier than we would have liked to go to the race because some of the girls were in the buckle frosh/soph races, so we just slept on the bus for a while once we got there. I watched everybody's races while I warmed up. Marc & Jon got 4th and 5th in the senior races, and Lil' Warner got seventh in the junior race. When me and Jamison finally got on the line and took our sweats off it was so cold. It was raining pretty hard and there was a wind coming at us that chilled you to the bone. At least I have gotten plenty of practice at running in mud this year between Nike, BYU, and Nebo. The gun went off and I got a terrible start. I got caught behind a pole at the very beginning, and was in about 100th after a quarter mile. I had to weave my way through kids for the next half mile loop and when we came through the mile I was about 30th in 5:00. On the switchbacks I made a move and passed about 10 kids including Joe and Hagen from AF, before ascending the steep hill down to the airstrip. I hit the airstrip and just tried to gain some ground on the front pack while picking off kids who had fallen off. Once I got up poop out hill I caught Josh from Desert Hills and just made sure not to lose him, and we both passed a bunch of of kids on our way around the back of the course to Reservoir hill. Me, him and another kid raced up reservoir three wide and right before we hit the top I put a little surge in to try to drop them on the downhill. Coming down the hill Hagen came up next to me, said hi, then fell back. I was in seventh coming up to the track but Josh and another kid passed me with 200 to go and my legs were just to tired to try to go with them. I ended up ninth in 16:55, which made me our third guy to end the season which was pretty cool. In the chute they made the top ten wait on a bench for a while before giving us instructions about awards. About an hour later they had us go up on a stage and get our picture taken and stuff. Overall I was very happy with the race, and it was a good way to end the season. Next up, ROOT BEER MILE!!!!!!!

Let the rest fuel your fire. You're still running if you're playing ball but it is different. I look forward to seeing you continue to progress. In track focus on negative split running. Your Mile PR could easily be 5-10 seconds faster on just smarter racing alone, not even better fitness. Carry on.

Well my break is over and I woke up excited and ready to run. I went out and it felt harder than usual, but that is only to be expected after two weeks off. I ran up to the trail on the side of the mountain that runs by the three story park for most of my run. There was a lot of snow but it made it kind of fun. I got to my turnaround point at the last house and looked up and saw the greatest sledding hill ever. I ran up to it to check it out and it was sick. It was probably 200 meters long and super steep. I am probly going to hit it up later with my friend Will. AFter that I ran home.

Today's run was terrible. It was pretty windy and it just froze a layer of ice over everything. I took the trail on the golf course and I ended up having to run in the two foot deep piles of snow on the sides the whole way. Once I finally got onto the trail up on the mountainside I was finally able to actually run because it was all just packed down snow. On top of it all I got a blister underneath my foot.

Today I did a mountain run. I ran up to where it starts and the trail was all packed down so it was finally ready to run on again. It was one of my favorite runs I've ever done. I don't usually run with my iPod, but I was really not feeling like running so I figured that music would make it go by quicker. With music you really don't feel half the pain while running so I was just flying up and down this single track trail that runs along the mountainside. It felt good and I think I might do the same run tomorrow.
