Race day! We got to the course amd chilled in the warmup area until the girls race, then went out and watched. We had to do these introduction things so we warmed up like thirty minutes before the race and then just chillled and kept warm. Race went off and I got horrible position. I definitely should have gone out harder because i was in the very back after 400. I moved up throughout the first mile and came through in 4:55, which was just about perfect. the second mile was tough, lots of mud and stuff, and i came through in about 10:15 I think. The last mile my legs were just dead from all the mud and i just tried to hang on and hold my position, and i ended up passing some people. The last hill right before 200 to go was rough but once i got over it i kicked pretty hard and held off a couple of guys charging in behind me. My time was 16:14, so not too fast, but I was happy with it considering how muddy it was. the team ended up getting 11th which was higher than anybody had us projected to get so that was cool. Utah had a great day with Casey and Alek going 1-3, and AF and Timpanogos getting 2nd and 5th. Afterwards went on a cooldown with all of the Soutwest guys. Talked to Joe Benson and Paxton Smith, and we all may be going to college together so that could be fun. Afterwards we headed back to the hotel with the heartland guys. That night was awards and the Southwest killed everyone on the guys side. We got back to the hotel then went to the dance from like 9 to midnight. I danced the whole time and by the time I was done I was more exhausted than I was after the race haha.

Nice work Adam!

Mud always saps your strength. It makes a 5K more like a steeplechase. It takes speed and strength and stamina to get through mud. Your position after the first 400 doesn't matter as much as your last mile.

Great season. Enjoy the continuing progression.
