I went into the meet today feeling good, and my only goal was to get under 4:30. You didn't have to check in or anything until they called your heat into the beullpen specifically, which was nice because it gave me a lot more time to warm up. They called us in and gave us our numbers, then had us stand out on the track while the sixth heat was going. When they were done with that we were able to do some strides while the seventh was finishing. I was in the first alley, which I was very happy about. The gun went off and everybody went out very hard. I had a decent start and was running in about fifth at the 200. I stayed there through the 400 where we came through at 64 I believe. That was way too fast but I think it ended playing into my favor because after that a few of the guys in the front started falling off because of the hot early pace. I am not sure what my 800 split was because I was in the process of moving past some guys when we past it and wasn't able to look up. On that third lap I was able to move into third behind Nathan Asay and Tate Muhlestein, and we came thorugh at 3:23-3:24. I saw this and knew I could close fast enough to get under 4:30 and tried to kick as hard as I could and got it by less than half a second.I got passed at the line, but I didn't really care because I had gotten my goal. Afterward I did a bunch of cooldown and watched everyone elses races. Mike beat me by .1 seconds in the next heat, and Clayson got a school record in the mile! I got a ride home with Clayson and went and got THai food when I got home which was awesome.
