I came into this race hoping to break nineteen minutes because my training has kind of buckled lately and I haven't been eating too well. The four of us that were in the race went for a two mile warm up around the  campus before heading to the line early so we could get a good starting position. We did a couple strideouts then did our cheer. we got some funny looks because we were the only ones who did a cheer.

The race started and I quickly jumped to the outside so I could move up easier. I waited until we past the fence and got onto the loop and then I started moving up. I ran with a couple Idaho kids for most of the first lap and all of the second. I don't know what my split was for the first mile because I didn't wear a watch and there was nobody calling out splits.

After the first mile the switchbacks started and I was kind of worried because hills have been my weakness all year. We started going up and after the second one I felt great so I surged and passed like ten people. I don't know if it was the elevation or what but I was just able to fly up the hills today. We made it to the top and I really tried to push it down so I could make up the lost time going up. The road going down to poopout is kind of foggy but I just held my position. going up poopout was good. I past about six or seven people by the mile two. There was no marker or timer or anything so I am glad that I had studied the course beforehand.

Going down I got past by one or two other guys. going up reservoir I surged really hard and past at least seven people. With a thousand meters to go I got into a rythm with a couple of california kids who were cussing their mouths off. Once I hit the gauntlet my team was there cheeringme on wich gaveme enough to pass two more people. On the track I stayed in my position until the very end when I passed one more guy.

Overall I think I did pretty good. I didn't take it out too fast which has been my problem all season, which led to me passing a lot of people that last mile. I got fifth on our team which came as a surprise. I then watched the seeded race with Cole and Mike.
