Great race today. Got to the oval at about 4:30 and chilled til we had to warm up. Warmed up for a couple miles, then went and got in our heats. They were only taking 4:25 guys in the fast heat, so I almost didn't get in but then Ryan pushed me over there. It ended up being a good thing cuz a few the guys who said they were 4:25 were definitely lying. Gun went off and I went straight to the back so I wouldn't have to fight people, then moved up once we hit the homestretch into like 5th. I just filed in behind Dallin Leatham and tried to hang on for as long as I could. First 400 was 64, so right about where I wanted to be, then 800 split was 2:10. At about 1k Dallin pulled ahead a bit and I could hear a couple guys coming up behind me so I just tried my best to hold them off for as long as I could. Hit 1200 in 3:18 and Camren Todd came past me. The last lap I just stayed right behind him then with 200 to go Jamison and Denver Perry came up with us and it was us four sprinting to the finish. I kind of got boxed in, so I ended up finishing in the back of our little pack but we were all within a second of each other so I was just happy I was still there at the end, and with a little speed I know I can be coming out on top. Ended up in 4:24 so a 5 second PR!! I havent really Pr'd in the mile since sophomore year so this was a perfect last race at the ice oval. very bittersweet. Afterwards we went to Cafe Rio and coaches paid for everyones food which was sweet.
